Bankhead Elementary School is located in the north end of Kelowna (close to the downtown area) and has served its diverse school community since 1967.

Bankhead Elementary School is committed to forming solid partnerships with parents, community and the School District to provide quality school programs that support and enhance student learning.  Unique school programs include:

Connections Project
Artist of the Month Celebrations
Community School Program
Bankhead Family Place Preschool Partnership
Bankhead S.T.A.R.S. Literacy Project and Literacy Lab
Community Funded School Lunch Program
One-To-One Reading Program
Spotlight Assembly Program
Student Leadership Club

Our school is also a designated "Community School".  As such, Bankhead Community School is able to offer a wide range of activities and events for children and their families during the school day and beyond!  Funding for these programs is through a CommunityLINK grant from the Ministry of Education.
Monthly brochures are sent home to families to promote these programs.

We also offer a Parent Participation Preschool call Bankhead Family Place.  Programs for parents and their preschool children to be together.

PRINCIPALS MESSAGE:

We all share responsibility in making Bankhead Elementary School excellent in all areas.

Students need:
- a positive attitude and good behaviour
- regular attendacnce and diligence in their studies
- respect towards their school mates

Parents need:
- involvement in school activities
- assistance in ensuring your child's program and work get completed
- regular contact with the school
- positive working relationship with your child's teacher
- advocacy for your child's education

Staff need:
- continued committment in providing the prescribed curriculum through meaningful and motivating activities
- ongoing monitoring of student's progress through a variety of assessment tools
- regular communication with parents

Administration need:
- leadership which reflects the commitment to provide a safe and caring environment for all children in our school
- to ensure programming needs are met for each student
- communication of relevant information to the school community
- the ability to articulate and plan a direction to improve life at Bankhead Elementary

I encourage and welcome you to become involved in your child's school. I look forward to working together with students, staff and parents and also to the challenges and celebrations that the school year will bring!

TERM 2 REPORT CARDS
Our Term 2 report cards will be issued this Thursday. Our recognition assembly, which will honour our students who achieved a work ethic and/or service award will be on Friday at 8:45 am. All parents and family are welcome to attend!
