Code of Conduct

Behaviour guidelines in the Code of Conduct are based on the School Act and Policy 5600 of the Board of School Trustees (SD #23– Central Okanagan) and the provincial Social Responsibility Performance Standards. The Code of Conduct outlines expectations and a standard for behaviour while at our school, going to and returning from school each day or while attending events or activities offered by our school. The Code of Conduct is reviewed by staff, students and parents/guardians and is distributed in the fall of each school year as an insert in the Student Planner (Gr. 1-6) and is also made available to all parents/guardians/students. Information outlined in the Code of Conduct applies to all members of our school family– students, parents/guardians and visitors. Staff also model expected behaviours for our students.

At our school, we take pride in “living” our Code of Conduct using the following guidelines:

Respect for self
  • for others
  • for school property
  • for other’s belongings
  • for personal property
Right to be safe
  • to learn
  • to belong at our school
  • to have personal space
Responsibility to participate
  • to play fairly
  • to accept consequences
  • to give your best effort

Bankhead Elementary School upholds and promotes the BC Human Rights Code—respecting the rights of all individuals in accordance with the law—prohibiting discrimination based on race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, gender, gender identity and expression or sexual orientation. Behaviour or communication that discriminates based on any of the prohibited grounds listed will be treated seriously by our school.

The Bankhead Elementary School Code of Conduct outlines expected behaviours, unacceptable behaviours and provides a list of possible consequences. These guidelines are reviewed and reinforced in class at the beginning of the school year and throughout each term. Click on the link below for the complete Code of Conduct.
